Clayton Edsall grew up in Montana were he learned to start working with horses on the family ranch at a very young age. Clayton started showing reined cow horses in Montana and realized he wanted to work with some better horses and be in the heart of the industry. At Clayton's first year at the Snaffle Bit Futurity, he qualified for the finals. Since then he has also been reserve limited champion in Reno, reserve limited champion in Paso Robles along with 5th in the intermediate and 13th in the open. In 1998, Dan rode Tejons Lena Nic to the Open Bridle World Championship at the NRCHA Futurity, in Fresno . In 1999 and 2000, he was the Limited Open Champion of the NRCHA Derby, on Pecas Olena and Teninolenas Angel, respectively. Also in 2000, Dan was Limited Open Reserve Champion, on Smoking Peppy Lady at the NRCHA Futurity, in Reno.
Dan won NRCHA National Championships in 2003, riding Command Two, in the Two Rein, and on Lenas Legend Peppy, in the Open Hackamore, in 2004. Dan has earned NRCHA Supreme Reined Cow Horse awards on 5 horses; Teninolenas Angel, Pecas Olena, Smoking Peppy Lady, Lenas Legend Peppy, and Gotta Have Cash. Dan served as President of the NRCHA in 2005 and 2006.
So far, in 2007 he has won the reserve championship at the Northwest Reined Cow Horse Snaffle Bit Futurity on SNW Heavens Showgirl. He has also won the NWRCHA Paul Dice Memorial Open Bridle Championship on Smart First Lady, the NWRCHA Derby on Ollies Playboy, and the High Desert Derby on Roosters Prima Donna.
